The Patient Care Technician provides assistance in maintaining the daily operations of the Outpatient clinics

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 1. Transport patients to and from the Outpatient clinic as needed.
  • 2. Under the direction of a Registered Physical Therapist (PT) or Registered Occupational Therapist (OT), provide assistance in treating which may include transfers.
  • 3. Participates in the preparation of Case Conference by creating a report for specific buildings. This will include obtaining report from therapists and nurses.
  • 4. Daily provide hydrocollator temperature checks and report to DOR if temperature is outside of designated parameters to ensure safety and therapeutic benefit.
  • 5. Obtains vital signs prior to therapy visits.
  • 6. Every two weeks clean the hydrocollator and sign off on cleaning form.
  • 7. Clean the equipment between patients in the Outpatient clinics and sign off on cleaning form.
  • 8. Assist the Director of Rehab in obtaining written scripts and Plan of care signatures by leaving scripts for the PA in each building as needed. Obtaining the signed scripts and uploading them to Web-Pt.
  • 9. Upload patient documents to Web-Pt which may include scripts, consent, insurance cards and signed plan of cares.
  • 10. Assumes responsibility for self-development by completing the annual training and monthly training assigned tasks.
  • 11. Assumes other duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the PT, OT, ST or DOR.
  • 12. Conducts patient satisfaction surveys as assigned.
  • 13. Participates in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
  • 14. Fulfills the “two person duty requirement” for Medicare compliance
  • 15. Calls patients to give appointment reminders
  • 16. Facilitates the smooth functioning of the department to which assigned by performing administrative tasks and clerical duties.
  • 17. Maintains inventory of department equipment and supplies
  • 18. Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. Coordinate and assist with care as directed.
  • 19. Complies with infection control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
  • 20. Ability to work effectively within the role independently and with other team members
  • 21. Any other tasks as assigned by the therapy director, administrator or clinical manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 75 hour HHA certification or CNA license
  • Must have current BLS CPR certification
  • Must have experience with Home Care/Skilled Therapy
  • Must have Florida State level 2 criminal background check
  • Must be a high school/equivalent graduate
